UFT Home Daycare Providers Win Fight for Higher Wages
The New York City Administration for Children's Services announced on May 14 that it has agreed to pay home daycare providers the same market rate that providers in the rest of the state have received since October 2007.

The AFT marked Worthy Wage Day, held each year on May 1, with a variety of activities to recognize and honor the hard work of early childhood educators and staff, and to draw attention to their low wages and minimal benefits.
Stimulus Fund: Child Care Policy Options for States
The National Women's Law Center and the Center for Law and Social Policy have released a new resource to aid advocates with the implementation of American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). This report explores policy options that states can pursue under the economic stimulus program to create new jobs by serving more families and improving the quality of care. It also discusses how to build the case for permanent funding by documenting how states used these funds effectively to create new jobs, assist providers and help low-income families stay in the workforce.
